Dear members of the Cornell Community,
We are honored to serve as the co-chairs of the Cornell United Way Campaign for 2016-17 and feel a considerable sense of responsibility to local individuals and families given the importance of Cornell’s impact within the overall Tompkins County campaign effort.
Generous gifts from Cornell faculty, staff, and students fund nearly 40% of the overall support that families in Tompkins and surrounding counties receive via this important initiative.
- 100% of your gift to the Community Care Fund, United Way’s special initiatives, partner organizations, or another United Way directly benefits those programs and services. This is possible because Corporate Cornerstone Partners and United Way’s earned income cover administrative and operating costs.
- You may provide your gift of support online or use the pledge card that you will soon receive in the mail.
- Many Cornell staff receive services from United Way supported agencies without realizing the source of these generous gifts.
- Many members of our community intend to make a gift, but get distracted with their busy lives. This year, I hope all who desire to provide help to those in need will consider a gift today or when the pledge card arrives in the mail.
There are serious, life-impacting challenges within our community including hunger and homelessness. You have the opportunity to make an important, and perhaps critical, impact.
We are offering online giving. In the email you received from us, you will find a link to your personalized account with a temporary password. If you have given before, you will see your giving history. If you decide to use the online giving system, please create a new password once you log on, and please do not use your NetID password. You can still choose to give via a pledge card, which will arrive in your mailbox shortly. Payroll deduction begins in January 2017 and is a convenient way to spread payment throughout the year.
Thank you for considering a gift to the United Way. Look for more campaign news soon.
